Presenter

Steve Lyons

CEO at SPM Assets

Steve Lyons (SPM Assets CEO) will discuss a ‘top-down process’ to asset management planning – recognising the importance of leveraging organisational knowledge through starting at the strategy and project planning level first.

This top-down process is then progressively supported over time with good quality well-targeted asset data (bottom-up approach) to build evidence that identifies projects to address future risk. It’s all about getting your governance right first, that’s the basics, without that, it’s just a short term interest in asset management.

This brings together caring for existing assets while recognising larger capital budgets are often driven by changes in functional requirements and legislative compliance.

We all need to aim for a real business and digital transformation that will make a difference to the organisation, stakeholders, customers and the wider community. Of course, this will lead to a list of well planned projects that will be delivered at the right time and for the right reasons – moving an organisation from asset level analysis into project level decision making – and moving from a reactive to a planned approach to caring for your portfolio.
